This is a Christmas gift for my very Irish girlfriend, and I can hardly wait to give it to her. She has dreams of going to Ireland some day, but until she does, this beautiful volume may give her a preview of things to come. It's a gorgeous book with a lot of historical background. I'm sure she will love it!

Although it was a beautiful book, it was not what I was expecting. I should have done more research before ordering.I purchased it for my son who is very interested in the history of his Irish ancestry. It wasn't quite what I was looking for, so I had to return it.

Received this book as a Christmas gift from my mother. It arrived in a timely manner, and this morning I've finally had a chance to take a good lok at it. I'm sorely disappointed with the book...not what I hoped it would be...if it had been left to me, I would not have purchased it sight unseen.

My sister and I saw the Book of Kells while at Trinity College a couple of years ago and it was fascinating! My sister loves books and is very much into history (she has been on archeological digs). When I saw this item in the catalog, I immediately know it was for her, so I bought this and had it sent directly to her. She had it in less than a week and said it is a beautiful book and she loves it! Very happy with the service and the item.

My wife is an artist and calligrapher, and has long made a study of the Book of Kells as available in the odd truncated reprint. Recently though, she and I were lucky enough to visit Dublin, Trinity College, and the ancient and original Book itself. (You should read Thomas Cahill's book, "How the Irish Saved Civilization" to realize its inestimable importance.) Trinity College sells a small paperbound book of excerpts which is a fine keepsake, but this beautiful, hardbound, slipcased volume published by Thames & Hudson and sold by Gaelsong is almost as awe-inspiring as -- and more complete than -- the exhibit itself. Beautiful paper, crisp and brilliant printing ... it is a book to treasure, and pore over on long quiet evenings. For what it delivers, it's not expensive.

Back in 2012, I took my wife on a long vacation to the United Kingdom taking in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England. Wile we were in Dublin it was our intention to visit Trinity College to view the Book of Kells however, due to time and the lack of parking space we were unable to view the book. It was with pleasure that I found a copy of The Book of Kells in Gaelsong catalog. I ordered the book, along with other items and was expecting a smaller sized book. When the items arrived I was amazed to see the size and weight of the book. I am very pleased indeed at the purchase.

I hope 5 is the best rating because I was impressed with my purchase. I bought the hardcover Book of Kells as a gift for my daughter. I was proud to give this stunning and treasured book to her. The book is worth every penny. I also purchased the sturdy soft cover for her to take to rituals, celebrations or as a take along reference book. This book is also a beautiful presentation and a good buy.

If I could give more stars than five, I would. I have wanted a copy of the Book of Kells for as long as I can remember, and this edition certainly delivers as close to that as I could wish!! I have only had time to look at a few pages here & there but I feel I can safely say that this is one book that I will enjoy for many many years. In fact, it will probably take me that long just to get through it all...such a proud addition to our family's library!! So rich in history, the illustrations are absolutely breath-taking! I love all the added history & related articles...so much to take in here I hardly know where to begin! Well done, Gaelsong! You have certainly outdone yourselves here....once again!! :)

I bought this for my Grandson for his birthday. I was extremely impressed with the size & content. The slip cover is very sturdy & the pages are of heavy paper. Not flimsy. Well worth the money.
