""If you're a wizard or witch you have a wand; if you're a clairvoyant you have cards, a pendulum or crystal ball. Faeries have wishing coins." (From the booklet that comes with the coins.)
I've always loved coins, especially non-denominational and collectible coins like those you get at mardi gras or in souvenir shops, and I've always loved fairy tales, so when I saw this item I just had to buy it. And I was not disappointed. I received 7 coins, ranging in size from about a penny to a silver dollar. The coins are named: Deepest Desires, Inspiration, Faerie Glamour, Wellbeing, Gift of Gifts, Balance, and Dragons Flight. They are brass, copper or silver colored, and all have a simulated blue-green patina and signs of wear, as if from age and use. Which makes them charming.
The coins themselves are beautiful, but they also come with literature about each coin, including instructions for how to use them in spell-like rituals - bury the coins, dig them up, carry them, make wishes, ring a bell, and whatnot. It's a nice touch. And there's a fairy language decoder, so you can read what is written on the coins.
They arrived in a blue and gray satin drawstring pouch, which is probably the least appealing part of the purchase, but the pouch can be tossed and a more appropriate home for the fairy coins can be found, right?"
