Gaelic Christmas A Gaelic Christmas is a festive celebration of Irish culture and holiday tradition, featuring the sweet, pure voice of Mary McLaughlin at its core. McLaughlin, who hails from Northern Ireland, has a firm grasp of classic Irish sean-nos singing, which she displays here (with accompanying instrumentation - an uncommon element in conventional sean-nos form) in this graceful collection of Christmas and seasonal fare. With the exception of a handful of familiar favorites ("Silent Night," "O Holy Night," "Away In a Manger"), most of the songs are derived from traditional Gaelic spiritual music and capture the graceful beauty Irish music is known for.
