Mistletoe & Wine
Katharine Blake and her theatrical ensemble of renaissance sirens, collectively known as the Mediaeval Baebes, present their first album of seasonal fare with Mistletoe & Wine. The album is essentially a greatest hits release with a wintry spin, meaning you can expect some of the group's more "merry" offerings from their past releases. Instrumentation is sparsely used (usually comprised of early music relics like the hurdy gurdy, zither, citern, glockenspiel, recorder and others); their polyphonic singing is the central focus. The album features two brand new recordings - seasonal favorites "In Dulci Jubilo" and "The Holly & the Ivy." Also included are new renditions of "Salva Nos" and "L'Amour de Moi."
