Christmas Songs Although best known as the choral ensemble that lent their pipes to the Riverdance extravaganza in the late 90's, Michael McGlynn's project Anuna has been performing for over 15 years and has had more than 100 singers associated with it (usually 10-15 at any given time). Christmas Songs, an album of seasonal tunes, displays the sheer power and haunting beauty of the group's singing. Most of the music is sung a cappella with only very minor instrumentation in the backdrop; the harmonies primarily consist of additional vocals from the group. The repertoire features well-known standards ("O Holy Night," "Away in a Manger") and lesser-known pieces ("Riu Riu," "Winter, Fire & Snow"), each performed with the group's trademark traditional Irish sound.
