Wheel of the Year Plaque
The Celts did not measure the passing of time with a calendar. Their sense of the years was circular, marked at the quarters and cross-quarters by seasonal festivals. This beautifully detailed plaque by Maxine Miller depicts the cycles of nature in plant forms arrayed around spokes denoting the festivals. "When you actually turn the wheel, it turns widdershins, not deosil."
It turns deosil, but the writing's upside down.

"Starting at the top - Samhain - and going clock-wise (deosil) the holidays are in the right order, but the writing's upside down. I do wish that it was done in something other than the ubiquitous resin."
Walk with the Goddess, deosil toward Yule

"You are Gaea (which you are) when this beautiful Wheel is on your wall. While we walk toward Yule going deosil, She moves your Wheel so that Samhain is in the past. She's not moving the Wheel widdershins; She's coming with us to Mother Bear's cave to greet the Wintery Queen."
